Berrogüetto + Lizgairo + Espido + Xavier Díaz + Talabarte
Auditorio Municipal de Tui
Location
Berrogüetto
Berrogüetto took very little time to become one of the best known folk bands in Europe. Relying on the richness of cultural diversity and a formula full of vitality, Berrogüeto got famous across Europe through festivals and international tours, becoming one of the leading references of "World Music"
Berrogüeto consists of Anxo Pintos, Quico Comesaña, Santiago Cribeiro, Quim Fariña, Guillermo Fernández and Isaac Palacín, five great musicians that sometimes wrap up the voices of Guadi Galego (also a piper) or Xabier Díaz, thus going ahead with a project that is almost ten years old and that is committed to foster the value of cultural differences through music.
Lizgairo
Lizgairo consists of Rodrigo Romaní, Xosé Liz de Cea and Anxo Pintos, three great musicians from different generations that met at the Traditional Music School of Vigo. Through the 70’s, Romaní began his journey in the world of music, creating with Ramón Seoane the group Faiscas de Xiabre, which later turned into "Milladoiro", band of reference in Galician music.
Anxo Pintos started at "Matocongrio", which was the seed to another of the most important Galician bands: Berrogüetto. This atmosphere of great interest in Galician traditional music, field work, and ethnographic research to promote the recovery of Galician culture, were the learning grounds for the youngest component of the group, Xosé Liz de Cea.
Espido
Guadi Galego and Gillermo Fernandes are “Espido”, the union of two great figures of the Galician music scene who, without needing any further instruments other than one guitar and one voice, created this project in 2005. Espido consolidates both of them as major figures of "World Music" in Europe, showing once again that talent does not need any ornaments to reach the essence of music.
Xavier Díaz
Xavier Diaz is the leading voice of the company Nova Galega de Danza as well as a composer and a producer. His first work "Musicas de Salitre” (Musics of Saltpetre), was recorded with guitarist Guillermo Fernández in Compostela in 2004 and also included participations by other musicians like Xosé Lois Romero (accordion and tambourine), Paco Dicenta (bass) and Carmen Rey (voice).
Between 1993 and 1999, Xavier Diaz was also professor and headmaster of the School of Music and Dance of Ames, and he defines his work with Guillermo Fernández as “a guitar from the South, a Northern voice, chlorine and sodium…the chemistry of saltpetre.
Talabarte
Talabarte are Quim Fariña (from Berrogüetto), Pedro Pascual (from Laio) and Kin García, from the band of Susana Seivane, three musicians who joined in a project that, in their own words, was born from “the need to survive the winter”, with the idea of creating a group to offer concerts in small venues.
The trio plays by mixing folk and jazz, creating another set of possibilities for the growth of Galician music culture. The group now intends to move from small venues to the stages of European folk festivals in Europe, paving the way for the consolidation of this Galician trio.
